Introduction

KS Fitness is a game-changing fitness studio located in Hudson, NY. In a few short months, we will be moving into a new space that will vastly increase the number of activities that can happen at any given time. The purpose of this campaign is to purchase equipment, barbells, bumper plates and all the other athletic equipment required to have classes going at the same time as the open gym.

We are looking to borrow between $10,000 and $50,000 at 10.5% over 4 years. Anyone at least 18 years old can invest.

About KS Fitness

I started KS Fitness in 2013 as a Certified Personal Trainer who would visit clients at a location of their liking. I would go to homes, gyms, offices, wherever they needed me. However, in 2014 I decided that I wanted to offer my own location so my father and I gutted and re-purposed a garage into a small training studio.

When this space began to feel a little cramped, and I wanted to grow, I moved us to our second location in Hudson, NY in November of 2015. This was a small 700-sqft space that quickly became a hindrance to growing the business because Rukus classes had started and more space was needed to have more participants. So, I went on the hunt for a new space, which I found not 1-mile away! This space, which KS Fitness currently resides in, is 3000sqft and houses training and classes every day of the week.

On a typical day at KS Fitness, I open the doors to Personal Training Clients at 7 am, and this continues usually until a lunch break at 12 pm. The studio then switches over to an Open Gym concept from 12-2 pm and gym-goers come in to use the equipment at their own pace. At 2 pm, I start Personal Training sessions again. Classes at the space start at 5 pm, and at this point, most Personal Training has finished. There are independent trainers who come in throughout the day to train their private clients, and they rent the facilities per person per hour.

The main class we offer at KS Fitness is Rukus. Rukus is a regimen of my own creation that incorporates elements of strength training with cardio. We offer both our normal Rukus class as well as Rukus LITE so that you can find the level that is right for you.

The Project

The new space is going to be amazing for us! Right now we do not have the ability to have an open gym concept, and the space wouldn’t be able to have both Rukus, spin or Zumba, because it can't have up to 16 people in each class, and also allow for the machines we need for open gym. The new space allows us a totally open floor space, 4,900 sqft to be exact, after bathrooms are in and an upper deck is available for use, which then leads to weights and machines areas, and a large part of the gym available for the group classes. We will also be able to feed our Personal Training side of business as well due to a regular gym crowd that will look for training and guidance. We also do not have locker rooms for clients wishing to come before or after work, to shower and lock their items up. We have bathrooms, but they still don’t make up for the lack of showers.

Also, coming into the space is tricky because its a tiny entryway that leads right into our gym area with minimal area for sitting and getting shoes on, etc. We also have limited parking and most days clients find it hard to get a spot here because we share a building with a doctors office, and a solar company, which both have a large amount of traffic. There are roughly 40 spaces, which the solar company takes most of with their fleet vehicles, and it is also not marked for actual spaces. We were supposed to have a dedicated 24 spaces, but that is simply not the case. Without parking, we can not expect to have more customers.

All this is to say everyone here at KS Fitness is incredibly pumped for the new space but we have plans for all of that. What we are raising money for now is the added equipment we need to be able to simultaneously hold classes and open gym. We need selectorized equipment, barbells, bumper plates, dumbbells, medicine balls, slam balls, turf flooring, push-sleds, and more, to help grow an "Athletics Department" we will be starting in the new space. This equipment is also used for our Rukus Class.

We need the equipment to grow our business and be able to give our current, and future customers and clients, an awesome gym to be a part of. But, this isn't just a business we are creating with this equipment; it's a community of like-minded individuals coming together to be healthier and stronger.

"As someone that seriously struggled to find a workout I didn’t hate, I can’t say enough about how Kent and his Rukus class have changed me. I honestly look forward to exercising and have felt comfortable and welcomed from the beginning. I’m looking at my journey to better health in a whole new light, and it’s all thanks to KS Fitness “ - Sarah-Rose C.

"I’ve been going to KS fitness since January and I am hooked. The “ruckus” class kicks my butt in the best way and before I know it, it’s over and I’m looking forward to the next one. Kent also brings a ton of humor and enthusiasm to his classes, making them fun and energetic. Try out a ruckus class. You won’t regret it!.”- Natasha L.

"Awesome, kick butt classes. Great support from Kent and the members. There are all shapes, sizes and athletic abilities. I felt right at home and have seen some result already!”- Marie N.

About The Team

I became a personal trainer because I saw a need for a person to help clients who would otherwise be lost in the typical gym setting. I love to help people become fitter and healthier, but also mentally happier and feeling better about themselves. Being a Psychiatric Nurse also showed me how much fitness could help a person, much more than what meets the eye. After I lost about 40 pounds myself, I also knew that my experience would help clients see it is possible to lose weight, even on days it seems you can’t win. It’s all about creating the nurturing, but firm, environment for clients to know they can be human, but also that the work is what produces results.
