After raising nearly $75,000 on our first Honeycomb campaign, we are back for more!

Gordo's Tacos & Tequila is a gourmet taqueria, located 60 yards from the top of the Monogahela Incline. We are a 100% scratch kitchen. We ship heirloom corn kernels from Oaxaca, Mexico that we grind into dough for fresh-pressed tortillas as well as tortilla chips. We locally source our beef, pork, and chicken to bring a clean and organic approach to the ancient Mexico City-style preparations. We will have a heavy street food focus offering the famous Al Pastor but will also mesh some American classics such as the Cheeseburger Taco as well as Nashville Hot Chicken Taco. We will certainly have something for everyone, with a heavy focus on gluten-free options as well as keto-friendly and other dietary restrictions.

Our recipes using ancient practices mixed with fresh and high-quality ingredients will exceed our guests’ expectations. Our food menu will offer many handheld items that will be able to be eaten in our restaurant or on the move. Our front takeout window will cater these items toward the Shiloh Street foot traffic. Over a million visitors a year walk down Grandview Avenue to take in the breathtaking Pittsburgh skyline: why not have a delicious hand-crafted taco in hand while soaking in the views?

We are raising $75,000 at an interest rate of 10.00%, paid over a 36-month term.


Our tortillas are made from scratch with heirloom corn kernels shipped from Oaxaca, Mexico.

Due to Covid-19, our opening has been severely delayed. We were initially going to open the first floor and then follow with the 2nd floor & courtyard in year two. Since we're a year behind, we'd like to open the fully finished product on day one. This will also allow us to safely seat more people so we can maintain social distancing.

Our first floor will be a family-friendly dining area.


Our second floor will have more of a nightlife vibe.



The idea initially came during my time at Diamond Market. We began running Fiesta Friday specials to begin the testing of recipes and creations developed over the years. We then ran a successful Gordo's pop-up in Mt. Lebanon in the fall of 2019 while we were running into zoning & permit delays with the city of Pittsburgh. Now we're ready to get moving and looking to bring a fresh new concept and product to Mt. Washington!


All of our meats will be organic & locally sourced.


Our Advantage

Gordo's Tacos and Tequila offers many unique advantages over the current competitors but will also contribute and work on improving the overall market. When compared to the existing quick-casual market, we will be offering a completely unique cuisine in the same timely fashion at a competitive price. Our front take-out window will allow us to dominate the street food market. Imagine getting tacos al pastor, sliced fresh from our blazing trampo right onto a fresh-pressed tortilla, garnished with juicy pineapple, and served right into your hands for the same price as a hot dog across the street!

In the full-service restaurant discussion, we kept hearing the same words: burgers, sandwiches, wings, fries, and beer. Gordo's does offer beer, but nothing else from this repetitive list. Our version of wings is our slow-smoked St. Louis style ribs tossed in a mezcal BBQ sauce. Gourmet burgers and sandwiches? How about mouthwatering braised meats or grilled Mahi-Mahi on fresh-pressed tortillas with cool crisp toppings. Tacos will always win that battle. But, we're not just about the food. Our fresh-squeezed fruits blended into our signature margarita recipe will quench your thirst. 

Our next advantage isn't over the competition, because it's a completely new market entry. Gordo's Tacos and Tequila will be the first family-friendly full-service restaurant on Mount Washington. I'm not saying that you can't take kids to  Redbeard’s or Bigham Tavern, but they are truly bars. Our first floor is not only 100% ADA accessible, but also offers an atmosphere inviting to people of all ages. We have a designated kid’s menu with offerings from cheese quesadillas to chicken fingers. Our music and lighting levels will be set to adequate dining levels, and our televisions will be tuned to sports and viewable from every seat in the house. Our second floor will cater more toward the bar and nightlife crowd.


We will be the first family-friendly restaurant in Mount Washington.


The Location

We are located 60 yards from the Monogahela Incline and the Scenic Overlook.


Mount Washington is a focal point for Pittsburgh visitors. With its skyline views and landmark inclines, 1.2 million visitors a year are drawn to these attractions. It is also a  growing community. The proximity to town and all major highways has made this a real estate hot spot. With all this drawn attraction, there are virtually no full-service family-friendly restaurants in the area to cater to the rising traffic. The market is currently segmented toward high-end restaurants or establishments that are considered primarily bars. A Mexican restaurant, a cuisine that is yet to be offered on Mt. Washington, would cater to the needs of residents and visitors alike.

Currently, there are 8,500 households within the Mount Washington community.  Over a third of these homes have children under the age of 18. This means there are over 2,800 homes that could have a new family-friendly restaurant within a short distance. Mount Washington is a big walking community, so our proximity to these homes gives us a great opportunity to be a local hot spot. 

1.2 million visitors per year come to Mount Washington to soak in the views, take breathtaking skyline photos, and ride the historic inclines. Our property is located 60 yards from the Monongahela Incline and Scenic Overlook. Our plan is to cater to this crowd with our "street food" and with our inside dining and a full-service bar. Several bars on Mount Washington do not open until 4:00 PM. During the warm weather months, we plan to be open 7 days a week from 11 am to midnight or later.  

Mount Washington has been an evening social destination for many years, and it's only growing. Our location on Shiloh Street puts us right in the heart of the casual evening entertainment strip. We're located right across the street from a very popular bar that is very space limited. Our open-air concept, views over Shiloh, and late-night food will create quite a buzz for the evening social crowd.

About the Owner

Brian Gorder

Brian was raised in the South Hills and started his restaurant journey at the age of 14 working for the local diner. After graduating with a degree in Hospitality Management from Penn State, he went to the country club sector. He then shifted to the quickly expanding and local favorite, Primanti Bros. He worked under the local ownership and then partnered up with them at the Diamond Market in Market Square. There, he mastered the art of cured & smoked meats and began the mental journey of his favorite, tacos. After heavy travel and research to taco hot spots, the inspiration for the menu was derived.

Your ongoing responsibilities from investing are limited. Over the life of the loan, you will receive a yearly 1099-INT, which is a simple tax document similar to what you receive for most savings accounts.*Individual payments may vary slightly based on rounding. Potential repayments include principal and interest; they do not include the one-time fee which is assessed when you make your investment. These amounts are calculated as a hybrid interest-only + amortizing loan, which means that there is a specified interest-only period followed by a an amortization period. There are no prepayment penalties and 131 Shiloh LLC may pay down their loan early, which may impact your earnings potential. 131 Shiloh LLC pays as agreed. You will receive quarterly payments directly into your bank account. In the event of a default, you will be contacted by the administrative agent to manage the collections process on the investors' behalf.


How Honeycomb is Compensated

Honeycomb charges 131 Shiloh LLC a $250 posting fee and a 6.0% - 7.0% loan origination fee based on the total amount funded.

Additionally, to cover expenses associated with each investment, Honeycomb charges a 2.85% investment fee capped at $37.25 per investor.

+ Hello, this 2nd fundraise appears identical to the first. Considering that the first fundraise was nearly maxed out, why is there a second one?

Yes, the first campaign closes successfully. Since it was a success, we’ve launched a second campaign to complete our needs. This campaign is over 36 months rather than the previous of 60 months
